Within the wilderness explorer lies the sense of adventure and the self wonder of what's over the next ridge or what the view is like from the top of the next peak. In that sense of pure wonder and discovery, the explorer will ultimately find his or her inner self budding forth anew, like that of being stepped upon the earth as in a babe's first walk. And as I seek the beauty of the wild, my heart is filled with it, and I come away with a great feeling of really being alive. Thus, I cherish the wild for what it is and what it does to my heart . . .
