Quiet Of The Wild

I Like The Quiet...of a mountain sunrise hued in pink and yellow colors anew with the day.  And that of the birds chirping and twittering about, before the dew is gone with the sun.

I Like The Quiet...of lofty peaks laden with pungent summer smells or covered in winter snows, and the spectacular views mine eyes behold as I gaze beyond the forest maze and rippled network of never-ending peaks galore.

I Like The Quiet...of forest:  from alder grove and vine maple thicket, to the old growth cedar, Douglas fir, and spruce of the Pacific Northwest.  The ferns man-high and dripping wet, the moss like a sponge.

I Like The Quiet...of rivers and small streams (though they sing pleasant songs 'bout their riffles) as they make their never-ending swirl towards the sea.  And watching the water ouzel dip and pray.

I Like The Quiet...of deer and elk tracks upon the earth, raccoon tracks in the sand along a tiny rill, and that of bear tracks in the thaw of the spring snow.

I Like The Quiet...of enchanting sunsets hued like that of rainbows over forested ridges and deep ravines of shadow-valleys, or across that of an alpine lake, where above the crags and pinnacles soar the eagle, hawk, or raven.  And, the silence of darkness as it creeps in the blue-black night.....
