Before the sun began to fade behind the magnificent mountain, there was a sense of awe that overwhelmed me . . . and I was completely taken over by the power that is in nature itself. For in its simplicity, also lies its raw fury and strength . . . something man has no control over, yet he has the power to develop and sometimes simply destroy as he sees fit. With that, I have come to understand that man is a creature of nature whether he realizes it or not and all that he does to the environment will have an effect upon him, too. And though an intelligent one, I sometimes wonder how the rest of the community of life views him? Surely, there are good men upon the planet. But there are those men who view the earth with an "all abundance greed" in mind because they only see things through eyes that exploit natural resources for gain to a monetary "dollar" end, ignoring the fact that there is "benevolence" in preserving open spaces and wild places for what they are.....
