The sunset had been a grand display of purple-hued haze,

and the star-studded night sky simply glorious,

but in the early morning sunrise the first light of the day took on more meaning:

rebirth was taking place once again,

and the stone-cold mountain scene before me seemed more alive than ever.

And I rose to meet it, though humbled by the absorbing

wildness of it all . . .
