Over the edge the little rill spilled, to the glorious frame of Alpine lake and wild country far below . . .

If I have but only one life to live upon this plane,
I wish to spend most of it within the Alpine frame.

Where I hear only the sounds that nature provides,
And mine eyes rest where the eagle resides.

Now comes the smell of wildflowers in the fresh mountain wind,
Snow patches linger and then rescind.

Makes me feel alive,
This thing called wanderlust . . . for I now feel part of the meadow hive.

From within comes strength, confidence, and bearing learned not in book,
but beyond in awareness and the delight of discovery --
Hence, in the move of a rook.....
