An Alpine Embrace

Into the dusky shadows I must go where wild and noble creatures roam,
Face into the crisp-wind, it feels as if I've come a long. long ways home.
Yonder over the steep ravines and valleys comes the rapture of mountain sight,
With farewell of sun, the day fading into the blue-black night.
I think music is playing down in the canyon ground,
But it's only whispering winds swirling about jagged-cathedral peaks that abound.
And I in encampment embrace all that which is wild,
Dreaming and drifting, with thoughts like that of a young child . . .
