An Alpine Embrace

Into the dusky shadows I must go where wild and noble creatures roam,

Face into the crisp-wind, it feels as if I've come a long. long ways home.

 

Yonder over the steep ravines and valleys comes the rapture of mountain sight,

With farewell of sun, the day fading into the blue-black night.

 

I think music is playing down in the canyon ground,

But it's only whispering winds swirling about jagged-cathedral peaks that abound.

 

And I in encampment embrace all that which is wild,

Dreaming and drifting, with thoughts like that of a young child . . .
